| I have a PRI extended across a 25-pair cable of at least 300'. Six or eight analog telephone lines are extended across the same cable.
Is the ring voltage on the analog lines sufficient to momentarily knock down the PRI? I keep getting calls terminated with ISDN Termination Code 41, which suggests a physical layer problem. AT&T swears they're good to the smart jack. I've swapped the CPE PRI interface twice.
I know the telco brings the PRI in on a 25-pair cable down a single pair alongside the same analog lines, but the PRI is run through a smart jack and delivered on two pairs to the CPE. What documentation I've been able to find says it's recommended that a T1 be extended over ISTP, but I've seen many many cases where simple UTP does just fine.
Recommendations / Suggestions ?
Thank you! |

Thank you!T1 circuits need to be extended over T1 TYPE cable!! Just because "it can be done another way" DOES NOT mean it should be done. You are just asking for trouble!

| | Hello, If you want to extend a T1 line, you can use T1 cable, 50 pair or larger cable or 2 Cat 5e or better cable. What you have to remember is that the TX pair and RX pair must be in different binders or different cables. T1 cable is 2 pair, each pair is shielded. I hope this help you out.
