| | Hello BICSI members, I Ran into an issue in regards to DS3 distance. In the data center where I work we have multiple data centers. Building1,2 and 3. Building 1 is our centralize location for all medium and SP location. the issue I have in question is the DS3 Link between building 1 and 2, the "Link" is 460ft panel to panel not including cross connects. I researched and DS3 max distance is 450ft I believe thats including all cross connects. Our concern is if a customer in building 2 orders DS3 circuits from SP in building 1. I pre ran cables from SP location in building 1 to building 2, total distance from SP in building 1 to building 2 is 645ft. is this length going to be an issue? JFYI all cables are 734a. thanks

| Typical DS-3 distance is 450' from the Network Element to the DSX-3 panel and 450' to the other Network Element. Some equipment will reach up to 900', if connected directly from NE to NE without DSX panels.
You may have to consider speaking with a DSX vendor to get their recommendations and alternatives. You may have to incorporate a fiber-based DS-3 extender to reach the outlying office.
