| | We currently use both Lantek 6/7 and Fluke DTX-1800 for certifying both copper & fiber. We are starting to see more requirements for 10 Gb fiber backbones (50 um LOMM). Will either of these level III testers do the trick or are they limited to 1 Gb? I have sent e-mail to both manufacturers but have yet to see a response. Is OTDR testing required. I have seen some tech papers on bit error rate testing, but I believe that relates to the fiber manufacturer and not the field tech. I did a search of the forum and turned up zero results. Any info that steers me in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| According to the DTX Fiber Modules Data Sheet, the GFM2 supports 10G (http://www.flukenetworks.com/fnet/en-us/StreamIt?Document=2131174)

| | Thanks to everyone for the responses. I went to the links provided and read the material several times. Tell me if I came away with the right info: If I want to "certify" the backbone for 10Gb, I should use the DTX-1800 with the DTX-GM2 fiber modules. If I use the DTX-MFM2 modules (LED source), this may not be acceptable. |
