| | There was mention in the March/April 2009 BICSI News that "Our alliance is in the process of developing two to three innovation technology credits—one for physical layer technology and another one or two for audiovisual." Can you please elaborate on what these are? Thanks, Dave |

| | Yes, any update on the status of technology credits for LEED would be appreciated or where we stand in the process currently with USGBC i their review. |

| Is there a BICSI committee that is working towards assisting the USGBC in showing how technology can affect credits for LEED certified projects?

| Currently the technology based credits recognized by the LEED process are limited to those that control lighting, HVAC, and power consumption. The LEED process currently excludes all equipment from the recycled/regional material content credits, and does not take structured cabling or any IT related design (unless it relates directly to the building managment system). If an innovative design to control the building systems to minimize power consumption, and/or increase comfort or outside air delivery is implemented the designer can apply for an innovation in design credit. An example of this would be to use a heat wheel (ERV) to harvest heat generated from a data center and use it to precondition outside air in the winter. Hope this helps.
