Does anyone know of a standard that governs telecom requirements in parking garages?  I have parking garage that has at most ten drops.  I think a wall cabinet (TE) would be sufficient.  The customer thinks that it should have a dedicated TR space.  Can anyone that of anything, other than common sense, that would help my argument?

Why are you arguing with the customer when they would like more in the way of IT space instead of less??  Most of us fight each and every day for barely enough room to move an dhere you're fighting for less??

What are your reasons for demanding less?

Dave

Typically I try to combine security and Telecom for a TR in the parking areas.

At most a wall cabinet is sufficient for Telecom requirements, and begs questions

after. Why did you need such a big room ? I would rather get space in the

commercial areas.

I fight for every inch of space possible.  If you build a new sight the owner is stuck with what ever has been left them.  You can give space back but you pay hell getting any additional space.

I agree there is a point that economics outwaeighs the gain in space.  As for looking at the Garage and Commercial areas, it is my experience that any gain or loss you make in the parking areas does not add or subtract from the cmmercial area gains or losses.  The concerns will be the overall budget, then and only then at this point is where you start cutting.

One last comment.

As I read through these forums there is an overwhelming disregard for the customer/owner.  I know that this is covered up by "it's what's best for the customer", just once, maybe once, I will have a chance to work with designers and builders that have respect for the customer/owner.  The last time I've seen it was nearly 60 years ago; by watching a blacksmith/welder work day and night to see he created what the customer wanted not what he thought was best for them.  His goal was to produce a product that would last a lifetime and to exact specifications of the customer.  The only time I seen him argue with a customer over anything was if what the customer wanted would be unsafe.  As long as the customer knew it was unsafe he built just what they wanted.

Sorry for going on . . .

Dave

I have recently just finished a 7 story parking garage with 9 voice drops in various equipment rooms and Guard Houses. As far as I know there is not a requirement and common sense should followed. In most cases the TR shares space with the ER which also houses the other low voltage systems as well and a wall mount cabinet will suffice. Hope this Helps

Since this question was in regards to the parking garage you just finished while it was still just an idea on paper, it was of no help. But your effort is noted.
