| I believe the code in my area is at least 12 inches of separation from secondary electric power, when placing in a joint trench, and placing catv, phone, or data on top of electric power.

Hello all, I am looking for the min. separation of conduits in a trench. My customer is having >5kVA electrical and UTP in the same trench and would like to know how far to keep them apart. Both will be in conduit. Thanks These are the required separations per the NESC: Separations Between Supply and Communication Conduit Systems Conduit systems to be occupied by communication conductors shall be separated from conduit systems to be used for supply systems by a. 75 mm (3 in) of concrete b. 100 mm (4 in) of masonry c. 300 mm (12 in) of well-tamped earth EXCEPTION: Lesser separations may be used where the parties concur.
