Gentlemen,

I have an experience more than 4 years in ICT design.I would like to take up the RCDD exam, but, I would like to know, is it mandatory to take the DD101 and DD102 before this exam or I can directly take the RCDD exam.

Please can anyone shed some light on this.

There is no requirement to take any BICSI course prior to sitting for your exam. If you meet the requirements to apply and feel that you can study on your own and pass the exam, more power to you. Remember, though, that the pass rate for first time takers, unless it has changed recently, is between 40% and 45% so it never hurts to get some help.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. Moreover, I will take a time to learn online from the website quoted in your signature.
But, I would like to know if my experience and qualification is enough to take the test and what such documents will be required from my end to provided it to Bicsi in order to initiate taking RCDD test. (Note, I have the TDMM manual version 11 but I saw the 13 is more recent).

01) My profile :-
I have 4 years and two months of ICT design experience in reputed MNC. (My experience also involves designing the Fire Alarm system, is it going to be a negetive impact on my application ??)

And, my qualification is in Communication Systems Engineering (Master Degree from UK).

so, as you can see that my experience is less than 5 yrs but more than 4 years, besides which I have relevant qualification in Master;s, I understand that I am eligible for taking RCDD. However, I may first take two to three months more to study more from TDMM before I actually take a test.

02) Registration for RCDD exam :-
Now, moving to the second step, which is to apply for taking this test.
What documents do I exactly need to submit and to which address.
I understand, it needs experience letter and 4 reference contacts.
Note:- My job title is Electrical Design Engineer, is it going to be a negetive point if I submit my experience letter with this title to Bisci ?

My conclusion :-
The above is my understanding from what I've learnt on Bicsi website and their application form. Please can someone help me correct if I have gone wrong anywhere in interpreting the Bisci's actual message of RCDD requirement.

And, I appreciate if you can tell me more on what documents will be required.
Apologize if I have taken a lot of our time, and,
Thank you very much for taking your valuable time, I greatly appreciate your replies.

The only help I can provide is to refer you to BICSI's RCDD requirements page www.bicsi.org/uploadedFiles/PDFs/Applications/RCDD_Exam-App.pdf

BICSI's credentialing department is responsible for evaluating your qualifications. You would definitely need a current version of the TDMM and depending on when you plan to sit for the exam, you may want to wait for the 14th edition which I understand is to be released in the Spring of 2017.

Good luck

Goodie,

I came across your post regarding the BICSI RCDD exam and wanted to respond to your questions.

1.You do not need to take any course prior to taking the exam, however courses like the DD101, DD102 and the RCDD on-lonlinet prep classes are encouraged as they use the TDMM manual of which is the foundation of the exam. We recommend 125-150+ hours of independent study as well.

2.You can find the qualifications to sit for the RCDD exam here. Once you have submitted all the required materials, our Credentialing Exam Specialist will review and make a determination on your experience. You’ll need to submit the completed application, a resume/CV that shows your last 10 years of work history and four letters of reference, one can be a personal reference. Letters need to be on company letterhead, the personal letter does not. Please include the contact information (email/phone) of the person providing the reference.

https://www.bicsi.org/uploadedFiles/PDFs/Applications/RCDD_Exam-App.pdf

3.BICSI’s credentialing programs achieve a high standard by conducting a job task analysis study every five to seven years. From this study courses and exams are updated to reflect industry changes. The RCDD is in the middle of its five to seven year cycle. There are no plans at this time to release any updates or new materials.

4.In the posts, there was mention of pass rates for first time exam takers. BICSI does not publish exam pass rates therefore this information is not valid.

5.I strongly encourage you to reach out to our Design Exam Specialist here at BICSI to help answer any questions you may have remaining. credentialing@bicsi.org or call us at 800.242.7405

It is unfortunate that BICSI does not provide exam stats anymore.
This should be available to all the members.
Here are some stats published from 2013.
I would take David Cranmer's analysis to the bank.

Here are the stats that Tony Whaley presented in Orlando this year (2013):

TOTAL OF THE PAST CALANDER YEAR

268 Have taken RCDD exam
108 Have Passed 40 %

27 Have taken RITP exam
8 Have Passed 30 %

46 Have taken RTPM exam
37 Have Passed 80 %

19 Have taken OSP exam
1 Have Passed 5 %

38 Have taken Data Center exam
17 Have Passed 45 %

28 Have taken ESS exam
16 Have Passed 57 %

6 Have taken NTS exam
4 Have Passed 67%
